About NUS School of Computing

School of computing building

NUS School of Computing is the most established computing school in Singapore and has produced a trail of distinguished alumni, including chief executives and technology architects of multinationals, government agencies and flourishing start-ups.

The school contributed to NUS being ranked 1st in Engineering and Technology in Asia by Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking 2013, and stood 8th in the world for Computer Science and Information Systems by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2013.

The well-rounded curriculum taught by distinguished faculty from leading North American, European and Asian universities, inculcates in students computational thinking and life-long learning skills, as well as equips them with the right balance of scholarly excellence, professionalism, and soft skills.

The school encourages excellence in diversity among its students - some are winners of Best Paper Awards at international conferences for their research, and others are creative thinkers capable of besting their peers in international competitions such as CaseIT. They are led by outstanding faculty members who are experts in their field; two of whom were presented with the President's Science and Technology Awards - the highest honour for Science and Technology in Singapore presented to leading scientists and technologists - in recognition of their exceptional achievements in their chosen field of specialisations.

The school has long upheld the borderless approach to research collaboration, with ties being forged and maintained by research groups and individual faculty members with their counterparts in locales ranging from Cambridge and Oxford to Brown, Harvard, MIT and UC Berkeley.
